Polopos is a small and ancient village situated almost directly south of Granada, on the southern slopes of the Sierra de Contraviesa. There are magnificent views to the Mediterranean only 6 miles below. There are not more than a hundred or so residents in Polopos, although throughout the year the number is increased by visiting families and friends. |

| This is still a working village and, where many areas have abandoned the land in favour of tourism, in Polopos, farming still holds on. The main crops are almonds and vines. Polopos is well known for its wines. |  |

For a truly relaxing break why not stay at Casa Nicolar? There are 3 bedrooms - all with en-suite bathrooms and a guest lounge and terrace. The house is a large old detached building situated on the outskirts of Polopos village. In the past it has served as a bakery, school and most recently, a blacksmith´s forge! |

Casa
Nicolar is on three floors. The ground floor has the kitchen, bar and
dining room. On the first floor there are 3 twin bedded rooms each with
shower and toilet. There is a good sized living room with books and TV at the guests´disposal. During the summer months, the local well-run campsite nearby, has a bar and restaurant where you can use the pool and eat cheaply and well. |

| Although Polopos is a peaceful village (apart from August when the village is in ´Fiesta´), there is much to do. Walking and birdwatching are the most popular with visitors, whilst others come to generally explore the area and paint or photograph the countryside. On the coast there are uncrowded beaches where you can swim, snorkel and fish. |  |
